Design of Reduced-Order Controllers via H∞ and Parametric Optimization: Comparison for an Active Suspension System
نویسندگان
چکیده
The design of reduced-order controllers under specific performance and structure requirements is dealt in this contribution. Two controllers are designed and compared. The first one was designed using H∞ theory whereas the latter one is designed departing from a parametric-optimization via a two-stage algorithm. The time spent by the designer using our second approach is largely reduced. An active suspension system is selected as a case study. The performance of both controllers is tested experimentally in the active suspension set-up. The experimental results show that the parametricoptimization controller practically meets the desired performance specifications. Meanwhile, the H∞ controller cannot accomplish the imposed constraints just in the low-frequency range.

متن کاملDesign of a Constrained Nonlinear Controller using Firefly Algorithm for Active Suspension System
Active vehicle suspension system is designed to increase the ride comfort and road holding of vehicles. Due to limitations in the external force produced by actuator, the design problem encounters the constraint on the control input. In this paper, a novel nonlinear controller with the input constraint is designed for the active suspension system. In the proposed method, at first, a constrained...
متن کاملOptimal integrated passive/active design of the suspension system using iteration on the Lyapunov equations
In this paper, an iterative technique is proposed to solve linear integrated active/passive design problems. The optimality of active and passive parts leads to the nonlinear algebraic Riccati equation due to the active parameters and some associated additional Lyapunov equations due to the passive parameters. Rather than the solution of the nonlinear algebraic Riccati equation, it is proposed ...

The purpose of designing the active suspension systems is providing comfort riding and good handling in different road disturbances. In this paper a novel control method based on adaptive neuro fuzzy system in active suspension system is proposed. Choosing the proper data base to train the ANFIS has an important role in increasing the suspension system’s performance. The data base which is used...
متن کاملActive Suspensions: A Reduced-Order H∞ Control Design Study
This paper studies order reduction issues for a vehicle active suspension system throughout its modelling, H-infinity controller design and controller refinement. Computer simulations demonstrate that an H-infinity controller for a full active suspension can be significantly reduced to nearly one third of its full order, while the active suspension performance is only slightly degraded. As a by...
